Important note for driving on K’gari (Fraser Island)
There are only two ways you can get to K’gari (Fraser Island) from the mainland.
- The first is Rainbow beach, which is the closest access point if you’re coming from Brisbane or Noosa. From there you can take the ferry from Rainbow Beach to K’gari (Fraser Island). The ferry will drop you off at the eastern side of the island, Hook Point.
- The other is Hervey Bay, which drops you on the western side, at the ‘King Fisher Bay Resort”.
Another important thing to note is the tide times. It is vital that you make note of these as this will dictate your capability to drive your hire vehicle on the beach. Not planning around these times can impact your organised itinerary and drive times.

Important note for driving on K'gari (Fraser Island)
There are only two ways you can get to K’gari (Fraser Island) from the mainland.
Getting to Fraser Island from Hervey Bay is easy, a boat take your from river heads (around 15 minutes from our workshop) and drops you off on the western side, at the ‘King Fisher Bay Resort”.
The second way to arrive to the Island is via Inskip Point (via Rainbow Beach), this beach has regular ferry departures every half an hour and is around an hou and a half drive from our workshop. From there you can take the ferry from Inskip Point to K’gari (Fraser Island). The ferry will drop you off at the eastern side of the island, Hook Point.
Another important thing to note is the tide times. It is vital that you make note of these as this will dictate your capability to drive your hire vehicle on the beach. Not planning around these times can impact your organised itinerary and drive times. All booking come with a printed complementary copy of the tide times – just ask for one of these when collecting your vehicle.
