No tour schedules. No rush. With your own 4WD you can explore the world's largest sand island beyond guided tour areas — and at whatever pace suits you.
Maps, tide times and suggested itineraries are included. Your safety briefing covers all driving conditions specific to K'Gari — sand technique, tyre pressures, creek crossings, tide windows and where to go on each day. Most of our customers are first-time 4WD drivers.
Important information.
Applies to both the Jimny and LandCruiser hire packages.
Collect from our Hervey Bay depot — close to the River Heads ferry terminal. Arrive approximately 1.5 hours before your scheduled ferry. All passengers must be present.
Choose Early Morning (~8:30am), Mid Morning or Afternoon when booking. Confirmed departure time provided after booking based on availability, tides and conditions.
All food, water and supplies must be purchased before arriving at the depot. There are no shops at the depot or at River Heads ferry terminal.
Day hire and multi-day hire available. Hire is in calendar days — not nights or 24-hour periods. 1 to 7+ day options available.
Jimny: max 2 people. LandCruiser: max 7 people, no minimum. Groups over 4 — a Hervey Bay per-person passenger ferry fee may apply.
Refundable $5,000 pre-authorisation at vehicle collection. Physical credit or debit card required. Released in full after hire.
