A sample 3-day
Moreton Island camping trip.
Every trip depends on tides, ferry times, weather and campsite availability and for first time visitors or first time campers on the Island, this is an easy way to picture the experience. We book all campsites before arrival, and based on preferences and experiance level we help with itineraries and routes at the vehicle collection.
Collect, ferry and camp.
Collect from Geebung, complete your briefing, board the MICAT from Port of Brisbane and spend your first afternoon around The Wrecks, beach driving or at our recommended campsite.
Explore the island.
Use low tide windows to explore beaches, inland tracks, the Blue Lagoon or Cape Moreton! We will build this trip together at collection based on conditions, tide times and your experience level.
Pack, drive and return.
Wake up on the beach, enjoy a slow morning, pack camp, consider another days driving or enjoy time with the family at the beach before returning to the ferry for departure.
Camping package first.

Beach camps, blue water
and island tracks.
Camping on Moreton Island gives you access to some of South East Queensland’s best beaches, campgrounds, snorkelling spots and 4WD tracks. A suitable 4WD is essential for reaching most camping areas.
A must-do stop for snorkelling, swimming and sunset photos. The Wrecks are close to the MICAT arrival area and are ideal for first-day exploring.
Moreton Island is famous for huge dunes, soft sand tracks and beach driving. Your 4WD training helps you travel confidently and safely.
Camp near the coast and enjoy fishing, beach walks and quiet island mornings. Always follow tides, camping rules and beach driving safety.
Drive north to Cape Moreton for views, walks and wildlife spotting. This is one of the best areas to include in a multi-day camping itinerary.
Know before you camp
on Moreton Island.
Moreton Island is a national park and all visitors must follow vehicle, camping and environmental rules. We prepare the vehicle permit, provide 4WD training and help you understand tide and access basics before departure.
We arrange your national park vehicle permit on your behalf. Camping permits and MICAT ferry tickets are separate where required.
Camping areas can book out during school holidays, long weekends and peak periods. Plan early if you want specific camping zones.
Beach access changes with tides. Aim to drive at low tide and avoid soft, narrow or high-water sections.
Every booking includes a safety briefing covering tyre pressures, beach driving, recovery basics and Moreton Island conditions.
Use designated tracks only. Dune systems are fragile and off-track driving can damage vegetation and wildlife habitat.
Take all rubbish off the island, store food securely and keep wildlife wild. Moreton Island camping works best when everyone protects it.
